Latest News

The 2024 Dutch Sailing National Championships concluded today in Medemblik, crowning new national champions across various classes including ILCA 7, ILCA 6, Finn and 29er.

Light wind, flat water and sunny weather prevailed today to wrap up the competition.

ILCA 7 Dutch National champions 2024

Willem Wiersema NED was crowned the 2024 ILCA 7 National champion, finishing first overall after six races. He narrowly edged out Hidde Schraffordt NED, who finished just one point behind to claim the vice champion title. Daan Boekholt NED completed the podium in third place.

Yes, were difficult days, with really light air, so it was important to get the focus right and get the starting right. The first day I left the bid on the table by not making the most out of my starts, so that’s where I kept working on for the weekends and then yeah, I continued fighting at the front and yeah, it made me champion. It was really nice to race with all the guys. Last year was my first title so really happy to keep it – Willem Wiersema NED

ILCA 6 Dutch National champions 2024

The Schraffordt family dominated the ILCA 6 fleet, with Floris Schraffordt NED finishing first overall and claiming the Men’s title, followed by Alexander Hartsink NED and Audrius Moliakov NED.

Pretty hard, pretty tough racing. I started with a 17th, not the best racing beginning but I ended up doing pretty good in today. Especially today it was really hard racing. I had a 6 and a 7 so overall I’m happy with the results – Floris Schraffordt NED

The Women’s title went to his cousin, Hieke Schraffordt NED, who finished first among girls and fourth overall. Jania Ang SGP and Signe Brinkert NED accompanied the winner in Women’s podium.

Well, it was a really difficult weekend with lot of light winds and lot of shifty winds, what made consistency really important, and I think I had some good consistency during the regatta – Hieke Schraffordt NED

Finn Dutch National champions 2024

In the Finn class, Spanish sailor David Terol ESP took first place overall with 13 points. Nanno Schuttrups NED was the top-ranked Dutch sailor, finishing second overall with 21 points, tied with third-placed Jelte Baerends NED.

Being first Dutchman is a fantastic result. Were some tough days, good fleet, a lot of strong guys, difficult sailing, light winds today again so up and downs, but I finished with the first place so a good way to end the regatta. This is the first time I’m the best Dutchman. I’ve been second and third a few times, so first time on top of the Dutchies. It’s really good – Nanno Schuttrups NED

29er Dutch National champions 2024

Jeroen Dieperink & Thijs Bijleveld NED claimed the 29er Mixed National Championship title. Lenny Hofman & Rens van der Heiden NED took second place, while Beerdluuk Spijkervet & Thomas Reyers NED completed the podium in third. Lotte Meynen & Quinten Opstaele BEL were first among the women’s teams.

Today it was quite hard, the wind was a bit unstable and you needed to look at the clouds, elsewhere, that was important. This is our first event together. Now we are making the step through the 49er – Jeroen Dieperink & Thijs Bijleveld NED

ILCA 4 winners

Amber Knape NED dominated the ILCA 4 class, leading throughout the event to secure the championship. Dirk Louwrier NED finished second, with Julian van Hoving NED in third.

49er winners

Hungarian sailors Roni Oszkár Szabó & Oliver HUN emerged as winners in the 49er competition.

It was really good. The wind was light, medium at the most. We managed to find good settings before the race. I think that was one of the key things that had our speed and therefore we could manage our technical decisions as well. Speed and tactics was the most important. We could correct the starts, because it is a small fleet we could regain that position. It was very fun racing – Roni Oszkár Szabó & Oliver HUN

49erFX winners

Vera tea Horst & Jorien Hin NED finished first in the 49er FX class.

Nacra 15 winners

Belgian teams swept the podium in the Nacra 15 class, with Hannelien & Sander Borghijs BEL taking first place overall.

A total of 261 sailors from 8 different classes, representing 15 nations, competed in this well-organized event, hosted by the Royal Yacht Club Hollandia and sponsored by Team Medemblik and Provincie Noord-Holland.
